“Timeout Expired” received when processing a large number of automated transactions or other processes.

What could cause “Database error: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation, or the server is not responding.”?  It has occurred when processing large numbers of automated transactions.

The timeout setting by default, is 5 minutes. If the number of transactions is very large (thousands), or the server/network is slow for any reason, then this type of error can occur.  The default can be changed to another value by the running query against the GP Company database that the user is working on.
